NYOT OU TEA FESTIVAL
On November 11 and 12, 2023, the Cooperation Committee with Laos (CCL), in partnership with Project Space• Pha Tad Ke Botanical and Blue Chair Association, organized the second edition of the Nyot Ou Tea festival which took place in Outai, Nyot Ou District, Phongsaly Province.
The organization of the Nyot Ou Tea Festival aims to broaden and strengthen exchanges between tea producers of the district, both on production and processing techniques and commercial outlets. It facilitates meetings with buyers and producers too. In total more than 680 participants including 290 women tea producer joined the event!
DEVELOP YOUNG PEOPLE’S STORYTELLING SKILLS
This year, ahead of the festival, eight tea producers and four CCL staff from Nyot Ou followed a training on documentary making. On the program, they learned how to capture images and sound with their smartphones, conduct interviews, as well as the use of simple editing programs. The young filmmakers from Ban Huayva and Ban Nammayai produced four documentaries centered around the socio-cultural and economical aspects of life in their villages. After ten intense days of work, the result was presented to festival-goers and accompanied by discussion panels with the protagonists.
